TALL SHIP CAPTAIN
Are you an experienced and trained captain on Tall Ships, do you enjoy contributing to the development of our trainees and crew on board our ships, and do you enjoy working as part of a team? Then Swan Expeditions B.V. is looking for you!
The job
As captain of Swan Expeditions, you will represent our educational education and sail training programme in an inspiring, motivating, enthusiastic and welcoming manner. You are ultimately responsible for the ship, crew and trainees in all aspects, such as safety, voyage preparation and execution and sail handling and navigation during the voyage.
About Swan Expeditions
The sailing area of our fleet consists of trips all over the world. With our educational Masterskip programme for high school students, we sail halfway around the world from November to June. The other part of the year, we conduct expeditions around Iceland, Greenland, Svalbard and Norway, participate in Tall Ships’ races, organise high-level business events, collaborate with leadership travel organisations and sail with individuals in various countries in North-West Europe. We encourage advancement within our organisation and work with various agreements for our crew on board. Together with the shipping office, we set the course of Swan Expeditions B.V.
We ask
- experience as captain on Tall Ships
- ultimate responsibility for all aspects our fleet, crew and trainees
- to conduct evaluation and assessment interviews with crew
- your contribution to the implementation and maintenance of SMS, including certificates and documents
- your constructive contribution to the educational Masterskip programme
- your responsibility for maintenance planning and execution on board
- provide a welcoming environment for trainees and guests
- responsibility for all medical issues on board
- an officer of the watch
- reporting to our director
- a communicative attitude: you enjoy working in a team
What do we offer
- An agreement for a minimum of 1 year
- A dynamic and versatile workplace
- Number of sailing days in consultation (4-6 months per year)
- Salary negotiable
- Flights and usual expenses will be reimbursed
You are in possession of
- STCW - II/2: Master sailing ships less than 500 GT in trading area unlimited
- STCW - IV/2: GMDSS General Radio Operator
- STCW - AVI/2-1: Proficiency in survival crafts, other than fast rescue boats
