This is an impressive movie from 1969 about the spectacular expedition of the Italian engineer and Arctic explorer Umbarto Nobile.

He designed and built an airship called the Italia, which he used to fly from its base in Milano to Ny-Âlesund, Svalbard in 1928 (in the movie referred to as Kings-Bay). During some of our voyages we visit the anchor where Nobiles airship was tied to in Ny-Alesund.

Granted, parts of the movie feel slightly outdated compared to current Hollywood movies but the story behind it stays incredible! Good to know: you can watch Part One on YouTube!
